Directions

From Auckland, it takes 1 hour to drive from the Harbour Bridge to The Sanctuary.

Take the Northern Motorway and State Highway 1 north all the way to Warkworth.

Go through the first two sets of lights at Warkworth. Turn right at the third set of lights toward Matakana and Leigh.

Stay on that road for 7 minutes and you’ll come to Matakana village. Just after the Gull Station and the Rusty Pelican Restaurant, turn left at the roundabout onto Matakana Valley Road.

Go along the valley floor and up the hill (7 minutes).

At almost the top of the hill, turn left onto Govan Wilson Road.

Go to the VERY END (7 minutes). We’re the last property on the road. The gate on the left is #441 and says “The Sanctuary”.

Go through the gate, close it behind you, follow the drive, and it ends at the lodge.
