First Slab Laid!

The first huge slab of concrete has been laid from the gate to the stables. We’re excited about the difference it’s going to make to the quality of care we can provide next winter to the rescued animals that come here. Thank you so much to Joanna B and Debbie M for their donations toward the first phase of this project: to volunteers from SAFE who helped with the preparation, and especially to Liam and Rachael (in photo) for making and laying ALL that concrete while I had my eye surgery. You’re wonderful, and we’ll appreciate you even more next winter when we stay “high and dry” out of the horrible mud!! We’re planning the next slab now, so if anyone out there wants to come up and help out, let us know. There’s a lot more to do, and it’s really heartening to see the first slab completed.
