Lucky’s Dramatic Day

November 29, 2010

We had a Big Scare yesterday. Our beautiful black goat, Lucky, was really ill. He was lethargic, had warm horns (which indicates a temperature), kept going down on his knees, didn’t want to come out of his house, and kept nudging his stomach to indicate that he was in pain there. He’s usually a feisty spirit, so it really worried us to see him suddenly so subdued. He was making little mewling noises, which went straight through my heart. I can’t bear to see any of our beloved animals in pain. I called the emergency vet and begged him to come out immediately. Just before the vet arrived, Lucky was magically healed and seemed perfectly fine when the vet checked him out. Of course I’m happy Lucky recovered -it was apparently colic, which passed. But I had to laugh at the timing and moan about the expense! Animals just LOVE to make liars out of us!!
