Rescued Battery Hens Arrive

August 2, 2011

We received a group of hens from a battery egg farm this week. As usual, some have been debeaked, all have terrible feather loss, and they’re highly traumatised. I’ll let the photo speak for itself, and for the horror of these disgusting concentration camps for hens. These few girls are the lucky ones –after they’ve had 4 – 6 weeks of rehabilitation here at The Sanctuary, they all have happy new homes to go to. More than 3 million others each year aren’t so lucky. Go to this link to tell your MP that you want NZ to ban battery cages. Thanks.
