Rooster Relief

It’s almost impossible to find a home for unwanted roosters. It’s so sad when people hatch a clutch of chicks, discover that more than half are male and that you can only keep one rooster because they fight, and then start trying to find homes. We know it very rarely happens, and then the roosters are killed, or dumped by the side of the road – where they are killed by cars, dogs, poison, etc. So it was a truly wonderful day when Rochelle called to adopt 10 rescued hens from us, and mentioned that her beloved rooster of 8 years had recently passed away. I told her about the stunning Araucana rooster that desperately needed a home, and Rochelle immediately said YES! The great thing is that Rochelle is experienced in collecting all eggs so that she doesn’t have any clutches of chicks, so it’s the perfect match. Thank you for this happy ending, Rochelle!!
