Teaching Us A Thing Or Two

This morning Maddie, our little rescued goat, taught us the true meaning of the words “prance” and “leap for joy”!! Then she curled up on volunteer Lindsay’s lap and did a great job of showing us what “contentment” really looks like. She’s pure emotion, so sweet. Maddie has started mixing in with the Big Boys on the farm, and so far it’s going well. Like any toddler, if the larger animals get too close, she gets shy and runs behind our legs. That only lasts a moment, and then she’s out there socialising again. Maddie is learning to eat lots of new foods – and had her first experience of an electric fence this morning. It’s lovely to watch a young animal explore the world for the first time, and as she does Maddie also reminds us of the words “wonder” and “curiosity” and “fascination”!
