Wonderful Working Bee

On Saturday we had 19 volunteers come from Auckland to help us accomplish various projects at The Sanctuary. A HUGE heartfelt thankyou to Pete and Rod for drilling all the post holes for the new fencing; to Marianne, Diane, Ute and Claudia for making the Hedgehog Winter Solarium escape-proof; to Laura, Eliot, Siobhan, Kris and Kirsty for paving the brick landing at the gate to keep the animals out of the mud; to Gordana for cleaning the owl aviary and putting it back together; to Diane G for collecting all the pasture pooh and brushing the donkeys; to Nick and Mack for cutting down the dead trees and stumps; to Dom and Michael for putting the posts in; to Lauren for the yummy carrot cake and organising lunch; to Debbie for painting the bunny hutch (with others), finishing the mural, unloading the firewood, and bringing the scrumptious breads. Special thanks to Eliot for organising the SAFE volunteer team, and to Kris and Kirsty for staying overnight and getting so much done on building Loki’s new habitat. (That’s Kris in the photo, and NO that is NOT what we served for lunch!)
